BRIDGE TECHNOLOGY LAUNCHES
“NEXT-SHUTTLE” VEHICLE TRACKING SERVICE
First Turnkey Wireless Vehicle
Tracking Service Accessed via The Internet To Be Available For
Public/Private Transit Providers
PHOENIX, Ariz.—April 10, 2003— Phoenix-based Bridge
Technology, Inc. announced today it is launching “Next-Shuttle,” the first
turnkey wireless vehicle tracking service accessed via the Internet for
public and private transit providers. Next-Shuttle will enable airport
shuttles, public and private transportation organizations, and
municipalities to monitor their vehicles at all times, thereby increasing
security, and enhancing passenger service.
Next-Shuttle’s state-of-the-art capabilities allow
transit companies to create and monitor routes on maps, assign drivers to
routes, monitor time and customize configurations based on security levels.
The service can trace any mobile asset instantly and provides load and
capacity analysis as well as pinpoints information on incursion incidents
and gives audible warnings on speed, capacity and deviation from planned
routes.
“We expect Next-Shuttle’s unique information,
communication and processing capabilities to revolutionize many aspects of
mobile business management,” said Ian McDonald, president of Bridge
Technology, Inc. “Next-Shuttle can be installed in one hour with no vehicle
down time. It also provides a simple turnkey solution where transportation
coordinators can instantly access their data live from any PC, laptop or PDA
via the Internet.”
The system utilizes a wireless global positioning device
mounted in the vehicles, which transmits information about the position,
speed and direction of the shuttle to the centralized processing center.
Bridge Technology’s staff maintains this center 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week.
In addition, Next-Shuttle system provides wireless, solar
powered, display and announcement stations placed at pick-up points along
the route the service operates. When the passenger pushes the button, they
receive a voice announcement and a visual display letting them know when the
next shuttle is due. The announcement is available in multiple languages.
“We applied technologies from industry leaders, such as
MapInfo’s location intelligence technology, to develop a vehicle tracking
service that is unequalled in the transportation industry,” said McDonald.
“Next-Shuttle tracking service has already been installed at Oakland
International Airport and has earned a reputation for quality, reliability,
technical excellence and innovation.”
“Airport parking shuttles are operated through a
contractor where accountability and contract compliance are important,” said
Lester Patilla, superintendent, Landside Operations for Oakland
International Airport. “Next-Shuttle provides the crucial ability to manage
the airport shuttle operation. Immediate feedback is provided on bus
locations as well as a history of daily operations and customer performance
is easily manageable via Next-Shuttle.”
